Looking for Guidance on Efficient Online Tutoring Methods for Students in High School

Hello Everyone,

I'm new to online tutoring and want to get tips from seasoned tutors on how to effectively instruct high school kids online. Since I started working with students in areas like science, math, and English, I've seen that it can be difficult to maintain their full attention. I'd love to hear from those of you who have successfully adjusted to a virtual environment because traditional classroom tactics don't often translate well to the online context.

In particular, I'd like to know more about:

Engagement Techniques: What interactive resources or methods do you employ to maintain students' motivation and focus during class? I've experimented with screen sharing and annotation software, but I'm wondering if there are any other tools or techniques that help enhance the dynamic nature of learning.

Online Session Lesson Planning: How are your online classes organised? Are there any certain formats that are more effective, particularly for younger high school pupils who might require further assistance?

Handling Distractions: Distractions are practically inevitable in a home setting. How can you assist students in reducing distractions and setting up a conducive learning environment? Do you have any advice on how to motivate pupils to maintain focus without feeling overburdened?

Developing Rapport: Establishing a rapport with students is one of the difficulties of online tutoring. How can one establish rapport and trust in an gcp online environment? Are there any activities or icebreakers that you think work well?

I would be very grateful for any guidance or resources! Any achievements (or even setbacks!) that have aided in your development as an online tutor would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your help and support.
