I first stumbled upon tutoring in high school, and realized how incredibly rewarding it is. Not only do I value the feeling of sharing my knowledge to help another student, but also, I value the connections I make with my students. In many situations, the "one size fits all" approach is effective, however, in teaching, I find it detrimental. I enjoy the art of tutoring as a creative process. Using my background in Neuroscience, I learn how my students retain information and I tailor my sessions to their needs, while simultaneously helping them gain confidence and learn to love math a bit more. Additionally, I implement the Socratic process, which involves the students in their tutoring sessions, encouraging them to ask questions to help build a greater understanding of the materials and helping them retain the materials for longer durations. |
